Group of three memorials, two to Powell, one Knight, c15-20 m south-west of porch door, at Church of St Giles

Tombs lie in line north-south: the northernmost first described.

(i) Tall chest tomb. Late C18. Sandstone. Moulded top, part sunk cavetto base,
frieze and elliptical panels with trophies east and west, draped curtains north and
south. Inscriptions include SARAH POWELL, but dates not decipherable.

(ii) Chest tomb. Mid to late C18. Sandstone. Moulded top, friezed ends with
shield, plain panels north and south; part sunk base not visible. - POWELL, 1792,
but probably earlier in design.

(iii) Tall chest tomb. Late C18. Limestone on sandstone base. Heavy moulded top,
cyma base on plinth, wreath of leaves with pair of slender horns tied at centre as
relief modelling to ends, raised elliptical inscription panels: - KNIGHT, no date
legible. Located c2 m south of Powell, 1792 memorial.
