SO 71 SE LONGNEY LONGNEY VILLAGE

4/131 Monument to Sarah Howsen in the
churchyard approximately 2m west
of Church of St. Lawrence

GV II

Chest tomb. Dated 1728. Limestone. Lyre ended with 3 winged
cherub's heads to west end; oval cartouche to east. Sides are
presently detached; that lying beneath top has swag inscription
panel flanked by poppy and cross-bone trophies; that leaning to
north has bolection moulded rectangular inscription panel with
flanking bow drops. Cavetto moulded top; base invisible (March
1985). Inscribed on side beneath top to Sarah wife of John
Howsen, died 1728.
