14/42 Stanleyend Farmhouse
II
Detached farmhouse. Late C16; mid-late C17; early C19 addition.
Random rubble limestone faced in roughcast; limestone ashlar to
C19 addition; ashlar and rebuilt artificial stone chimneys;
pantile roof. Two-storey, cellar to C19 addition; L-plan. South
front: 2-window fenestration to C17 elevation, 4-light recessed
chamfered mullioned casements to ground floor with hoodmoulds; 2-
light to upper floor left, 3-light right, both with hoodmoulds.
Central doorway with C19 gabled porch. Four-window fenestration to
C19 addition right, all 8-pane sashes except for one blank recess.
Doorway to left with plank door and rectangular light over;
segmental-arched casement to basement; plank garage doors to
right. West side: gable end of front range to right with
scattered single-light casements. C16 rear wing to left has later
2-window fenestration, 2-light and 3-light chamfered mullioned
casements with hoods; 2-light upper floor casements, possibly
original with recessed chamfered mullions and hoodmoulds.
Projecting gable chimney stack at north end of rear wing. Some
alterations to rear wing on east side. C19 addition may have been
a malt house, common in this area.
