4/49 Road Bridge over Berkeley Pill

II


Road bridge over Berkeley Pill at southern end of High Street.
Late C18/early C19. Ashlar with iron balustrade. Segmental arch
on piers about 12m total width, top of arch about 3.5m above water
level. Even stone voussoirs, enlarged dropped keystone, moulded
cornice and blocking course form base for balustrade of diamond
pattern punctuated by 4 ovals. End piers have offset at impost
level and continue to balustrade level with plinth, moulded cornice
and tent top capping. Partially overgrown at time of survey.
