GV II
Two adjoining cottages, built in 3 stages and converted in C20,
both called No 4. Furthest west possibly of late C15, central
section of C16, later linked and both of square panel timber
framing partly brick faced on stone plinth. East end of early C17,
roughcast-faced with Tudor roses impressed into roughcast, on brick
plinth. Mainly tile roof, slates to rear of west end, and rebuilt
brick stacks. Single continuous range of single storey and attic.
Cambered openings to ground floor on south side and 2 rebuilt
gabled brick porches. Two-light wood mullion with iron bar to each
light to centre on first floor, with large 3-light gable on eaves
to left and small 2-light through eaves to right. East end has
full dormer with 2-light cambered head casements to south and
matching to north. Timber-framed section exposed in centre on rear
elevation and throughout internally to centre and west end, with
remains of daub and wattle walls and some turned wood ventilating
panels flanking shallow and narrow 3-centred arched doorway.
