FRAMPTON-ON-SEVERN THE GREEN
10/130 Nos 1 and 2 Manor Cottages
Originally probably a small hall house possibly of C15, enlarged to
south in C17 to form one larger dwelling, now 2 cottages. To right
(No 1), large panel timber-framing with one long diagonal brace,
with plastered infill on plinth, apparently raised above original
wall plate level, with brick wing to left (No 2). Steep pitch
double Roman tile roof, originally thatched, with small brick
stacks to end and to left end of original range (now on ridge)
above very large stone base. Originally a hall house with service
and parlour to right, entered beyond left end stack, extended to
left to form L-shape, 2 storeys. Scattered casements to No 1, 2
paired 6-pane casements to No 2 and single 3-light cambered head on
ground floor. Passageway in centre leads to original entrance to
No 1 behind stack, and to No 2 on left.
