7/186 Brides Cottage
Detached cottage. Possibly early C17. Square panel timber-framing
with rendered infill on dressed stone basement level and with stone
wing to right, thatched roof with decorative ridge half-hipped to
left and front gable ends. Large stepped ashlar external stack to
right with offset and moulded cornice and lean-to at base. Small
stone ridge stack originally at left end, now on ridge, left hand
side having been slightly enlarged and buttressed by raking brick
buttress at front. T-shape range with basement to projecting front
gable, remainder of single storey and attic. Front gable has 3-
light stone mullion with square hoodmould on basement, and C20
leaded casements above. Right hand side set back has chamfered
stone Tudor archway with C20 vertical battened door and plain 2-
light stone mullion to right. Interior not accessible but likely
to be of interest.
