15/35 Eastcombe Baptist Church and
The Manse

Baptist church and manse. Manse early C19; church 1860. Coursed
rubble limestone with ashlar dressings; ashlar chimneys to manse;
Welsh slate roof. Rectangular double height church with under-
storey at north-west end. Two-storey manse on south-west side.
South-east front: moulded parapet gable with small bellcote with
spirelet. Central round-arched doorway with glazing bars to
fanlight; double 6-panel doors. Inscription around arch: 'ENTER
INTO HIS-GATES WITH THANKSGIVING, AND INTO HIS COURTS WITH PRAISE'.
Two-light Romanesque style window above. Two other round-arched
windows to each level. Clock face below bellcote with hoodmould.
Three-window fenestration to manse to left, all 16-pane sashes with
stone lintels. Central doorway with 6-panel door; rectangular
light over. North-east side: 2 round-arched windows at each level.
Rear: plain parapet gable end. Two round-arched windows; small
circular window centrally above with stained glass. Central
doorway to under-storey with rectangular light over plain door;
four 16-pane sashes. Altered fenestration to rear of manse.
Interior to chapel: plain tunnel vault supported on 4-bay round-
arched arcades with cast iron columns. Panelled front to gallery.
Organ above entrance has projecting segmental fronted balustrade.
Various C19 memorials, some transferred from earlier church
building contemporary with manse.
