House in row. Late C17; mid-late C18 additions. Mixed squared
and random rubble limestone; ashlar chimneys; concrete tile roof.
Central part 2-storey with 2-storey additions to west and rear; 3-
storey addition to east linking with Nos 1 and 2 (q.v.). Front:
single-window fenestration to central part, 3-light recessed
chamfered mullioned ground floor casement, timber-framed iron
casement with lead-latticing above. Flat-roofed timber porch to
right has coloured glass in leaded side panels and iron hoop arch;
double doors. Ridge-mounted chimney formerly to each end of this
part, remaining to west end only. Addition to left has C20
inserted garage doors with timber lintel; 3-light leaded casement
above. Three-storey part to right has single-window fenestration,
2-light at low level to ground floor, 3-light to each floor above.
Middle floor has former doorway, now with C19 leaded casement with
coloured glass. Rear: wing has east-facing 3-light chamfered
mullioned casement to each floor and 2 ridge-mounted chimneys.
Interior: one room has bread oven. Originally 3 houses, the
building became the workshops of the Nation family of local stained
glass manufacturers, some of the lead melting equipment surviving.
