House in row with shop in outbuilding. Early C17, chimney dated GS
1682; C18 and C20 alterations. Random rubble limestone, timber
framing with smooth render; ashlar chimney; stone slate roof.
Two-storey with attic; cross wing at north end with single-storey
outbuilding beyond. Front: projecting gable end to one of
probably 2 original cross wings, that further north being part of
market hall demolished to create Court House (q.v.). Jettied gable
to surviving wing has central doorway flanked by leaded casements;
single casement to each floor above. Elevation of range to right
is ashlar-faced with single and 2-light chamfered mullioned
casements. Doorway with 3-centred head to right, 6-panel door.
Coursed and random rubble to sides of cross wing, north side having
evidence of blocked window openings. Range continues to left
having small stair light and gable end with dated chimney.
Outbuilding formed from part of house to north, now part demolished
but retaining round arched moulded doorway with imposts, keystones
and rusticated arch; lozenge-patterned frieze above. Rear:
gabled wing with ashlar chimney. Interior not inspected.
