17/105 The Old Vicarage


Former vicarage, now detached house. c1838. Ashlar and coursed
rubble limestone; ashlar chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey,
double pile plan. South front: 4-window fenestration to main part
of house to left, glazed doors to ground floor with marginal lights
above; 12-pane upper floor sashes. Continuous upper floor level
band. Hipped roof. Secondary part to right also with hipped roof;
2-window fenestration, 4-pane ground floor sashes in former door
openings, 4-pane upper floor sashes. West end: off-centre doorway
with 6-panel door, glazing bars to rectangular light above; 12-
pane upper floor sash. Hipped end to each part of roof; 2 eaves-
mounted chimneys with swept base and plain cap. Rear: mixed
mullioned fenestration. Tall 18-pane staircase sash. East end:
octagonal-ended conservatory. Interior not inspected.
