SO 8407-8507 PITCHCOMBE PITCHCOMBE VILLAGE

12/202 The Fernery

GV II

Formerly row of 2 houses, now detached house. Early-mid C18;
later C18 addition. Coursed rubble limestone; ashlar and
rendered brick chimneys; Welsh slate roof. Two-storey with
attic. Front: 2-window fenestration to original house to left,
restored 3-light casements to ground floor, 2-light above, all
chamfered mullioned with hoodmoulds. Central doorway with C19
gabled timber porch with decorative barge boards. Central gabled
roof dormer with iron casement. Two ridge-mounted chimneys
indicate original gable ends. One-window addition to right, 2-
light chamfered mullioned casement to each floor, ground floor
window in former door position. Interior not inspected. Forms
part of group with Star Farmhouse (q.v.).
