SO 8802-8902 CHALFORD BROWNSHILL

13/9 Brownshill House

II

Detached house. Early-mid C17; early C19 alterations. c1830
addition. Random rubble and coursed limestone; ashlar chimneys;
concrete tile roof. Two-storey with attic; U-plan with later
infill. Front: earliest part to right partly refronted in early
C19 with 2-window 12-pane sashes. Doorway to left with Regency
architraves and cobweb fanlight, this obscured by 2-storey glazed
porch. Part to right retains mullioned fenestration, 3-light to
ground floor, 2-light above; small eaves-mounted attic dormer.
Range extended to left c1830, 3-window fenestration, all 12-pane
sashes. Four ridge-mounted chimneys some with moulded caps. Rear:
2 gabled C17 wings with single-window mullioned fenestration. Late
Cl9 low-pitched infill between wings with 4-pane sashes. Blocked
windows to rear of c1830 addition to right.
