Detached house. Early C17; large c1820 west front and extensive
rebuilding. Ashlar limestone to west front, random and coursed
rubble elsewhere; ashlar chimneys; Welsh slate roof. Three-
storey west range; 2-storey rear wing. West front: fenestration
1:1:1, outer 12-pane sashes except 6-pane to upper floor (ground
floor with glazing bars missing), central tripartite sashes.
Central doorway with reeded pilasters and anthemion capitals,
reeded frieze; 6-panel door with cobweb fanlight. Plain floor
level bands and coping to artificial stone rebuilt parapet. Gable
end chimneys with moulded caps. North side: various alterations
to rear range result in mixed masonry and fenestration. Tudor
arched doorway has later inserted 6-pane sash; some other sashes
and small-paned casements; one small-paned horizontal sliding sash
to ground floor. Central chimney stack with moulded cap. East
end: several periods in C17. Three upper floor 3-light recessed
cavetto casements, all enlarged in Cl9; mixed ground floor
fenestration, one 2-light.
Interior: fine open curved staircase in small central hall of west
range, stick balusters with reeding, handrail with wreath terminals
and delicate inlay. Fine plaster cornices. Reeded doorcases with
paterae in frieze; 6-panel doors. Enlarged for Innell family of
clothiers at Sevilles Mill.
