NGR SO 785035

9/102 Railway bridge

Bridge carrying road over railway. c1844. Probably by I.K. Brunel
for Bristol and Gloucester Railway. Ashlar limestone with punched
face. Round archway, flanked on each side by curved retaining
walls, battered up to boldly projecting string course level.
Central part of bridge parapet is recessed with slight arch,
contrasting with the outer splayed parapets, the whole effect being
rather elegant. Appears very complete.
