9/106 Brooke House

II

Detached house. Mid C18 (possibly incorporating earlier work);
large early Cl9 addition. Stucco and random rubble limestone;
ashlar, brick and rendered chimneys; Welsh slate and concrete tile
roofs. Double-pile plan: 2-storey east facing range, 3-storey with
attic range to west. Single-storey part to south end with east
facing garden room to rear: East front: fenestration 2:1:2, all
12-pane sashes in plain openings. Central round arched doorway
with 6-panel door and decorative fanlight has open pedimented Doric
porch. Plain upper floor band and cornice with blocking course.
Gable end chimneys. To left is small timber garden room with
corrugated iron roof. Central projecting octagonal bay with hipped
roof has doorway flanked by 4-pane sashes. Either side of this are
two Gothick 12-pane sashes. West side: 2-window 16-pane sash
fenestration with timber lintels, possibly in earlier openings.
Small central ground floor casement with timber lintel. Central
raking roof dormer. Gable end chimneys. Lower range to right with
segmental arched openings, pentice roof carried out brick piers.
Interior not inspected.
