Stables and coach house with 2 gateways. Early C18; rebuilt early
C19. Coursed rubble limestone and timber weatherboarding; stone
slate roof. Limestone gate piers with tufa to flanking walls.
Former cottage, part converted to coach house at north end with
former open-fronted sheds to south. Two adjoining gateways at
north end. Two gables on west side, one original with loft
doorway, other weatherboarded with segmental coach house doorway
below having plank doors; stable door to left, iron casement
window with timber lintel beyond. Part to right is later addition,
stable doorway having eaves-level gabled loft opening with shaped
barge boards above. Three-bay shed to right with monolithic piers,
openings now blocked in brick. One blocked doorway on east (road)
side. Main gateway piers probably contemporary with house, each
with moulded cap and large ball finials on tall bulbous bases.
Secondary stable yard gateway has monolithic round-topped piers,
about 2000mm tall, 300mm square. Concave splayed flanking walls
with tufa having rusticated dressed quoins. Later gates are not of
special interest.
