ST 89 NE MINCHINHAMPTON AVENING VALLEY

7/174 Nos 1 and 2, Iron Mills

GV II

Partly warehouse originally, now 2 houses. c1830. Coursed and
dressed limestone; ashlar and concrete block rebuilt chimneys;
concrete tile roof. Three-storey with attic. Front: 2 full
gables with small half-gable between; 5-window fenestration.
Chamfered mullioned 2-light casements with hoodmoulds to 2 upper
floors, narrower attic 2-light in each full gable. Very large
segmental archways to open cellar, these having timber gates.
Central segmental arched ground floor doorway below left gable with
flanking segmental arched casements, all leaded in timber frames.
Plain upper floor level band. Three ridge-mounted chimneys.
Former warehouse wing attached to rear at east end. Interior not
inspected. Probably built during Playne family ownership of this
mill.
