House (Beehive Cottage attached, q.v.). Fireplace dated J.B. 1692;
early C18 addition at north east end.. Random rubble limestone;
ashlar chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic. South
west end (facing road): gable end, 2-window fenestration, all 2-
light ovolo moulded mullioned windows to ground and upper floors,
each with flat hoodmould and leaded casement; single 2-light to
attic. Cellar plinth has two smaller 2-light chamfered mullioned
casements. South east side: 3 gables, right obscured by addition
of Beehive Cottage. Left gable has projecting chimney stack with 2
linked diagonal-set shafts having moulded cap. Two-light chamfered
mullioned casements with hoods below central gable. North west
side: 3 gables, left being early C18 addition, fenestration
altered on ground floor, 2-light chamfered mullioned casement to
upper floor, oval attic window. Single-window fenestration below
right gables, all 2-light. Two-storey flat-roofed addition
projects forward between 2 right gables. C20 addition at north
east end is not of special interest.
Interior: many original fittings including folding front door.
Other contemporary panelled doors. Moulded stone fireplace has
date shield. Ogee stops to beam chamfers. Extended collar roof
structure. Possibly incorporates part of an earlier building, said
to have been a Tudor hunting lodge; little architectural evidence
exists for this, however.
