18/209 Broxmead and Malt House
II
Two attached houses. Early C18. Coursed and random rubble
limestone; ashlar chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with
attic; return wing at south end. West front: 2-window
fenestration, restored 3-light chamfered mullioned ground floor
casements with hoodmoulds; 3-light casements to upper floor
without hoods. Central doorway with hoodmould and 6-panel door.
Two gabled eaves-mounted dormers with timber casements. Two ridge-
mounted chimneys, one roughly central. South end: single-window
mullioned fenestration, all 2-light with hoodmoulds, ground floor
obscured by C20 glazed conservatory. Three-light upper floor
casement to wing to right. Rear: gabled stair turret in angle
with wing. Flat-roofed addition to end of return wing is not of
special interest. Interior not inspected.
