II

Gates and gate piers. Early C18. Limestone with wrought iron
gates. Square, very large rusticated piers each with carved arms
of Ducie family. Bold cornice tops with ball finials.
Decorative iron gates with scrollwork tops building up towards
centre. Each gate,hung from ironwork side panel. Contemporary
with C18 Ducie house, demolished in 1845 when estate purchased by
William Leigh.
