Granary with cart shed. c1860, by Benjamin Bucknall. Coursed
rubble limestone with brick dressings; plain tile roof. Two-
storey, cart entry to east and west ends. Gabled end with 2 brick
segmental archways to ground floor, one arch altered at west end.
Two upper floor 2-light mullioned openings at west end, one with
mullion removed; single-light opening centrally above. Single
central 2-light upper floor opening to east end, single-light
above. Flush end buttresses to east end with weathered coping.
Off-centre gabled staircase projection on south side with
shouldered arched doorway on east side.
Interior: longitudinal central supporting wall to ground floor has
3 segmental archways at centre. Heavy timber floor beams supported
off stone corbels. Internal stone stair to granary loft has iron
handrail with wreathed terminals. Five-bay queen post roof,
mullioned openings having segmental rere-arches. Many features in
this solidly-built granary match those on other buildings known to
be by Bucknall. Built when farm formed part of William Leigh's
estate. Forms part of group with Court Farmhouse (q.v.).
