Signal Box at Brimscombe
St Mary's Crossing


Signal box. c1875. Flemish bond brickwork, some vertical boarding to upper framed
section, slate roof. A small square GWR type 2 box, without frame, used to control
crossing gates (qv). Rail side has two pairs of 4 + 4-pane horizontal sliding
scales above brick wall with 6-light casement to segmental head. Entrance steps
in timber, left, to part-glazed door and 8-pane fixed sash. Return, right has
horizontal sliding sash, one part, as front above plank door in brickwork. Back
is all brick, has one small light with segmental head and a small eaves stack.
