Crossing gates at
Brimscombe St Mary's


Crossing gates each side of two track railroad. Probably c1875. Painted timber
plus wire mesh. Each is main gate in two cross-braced panels set to heavy metal-
capped piers, plus smaller pedestrian gate to lesser capped post. Main gates hung
to heavy strap hinges. On London Road side of tracks, gate abuts lofty stone abut-
ment wall (not included in this listing) and on the opposite side is set close
to signal box (qv). Gates and signal box remain a good contemporaneous group.
