5/370 Little Greenhouse
House, end of row. Early C18 and C19. Limestone ashlar or coursed and squared
work, stone slate roof to right wing, concrete tile to left. An L-plan with the
early wing to the right, gable to road, and later wing, probably a separate
dwelling originally, at right angles to left. Right wing is two storeys and
attic, 2 windows; ground floor and first floor each with 3-light recessed
chamfer stone mullioned casements to stopped hoods, and 2 hipped 2-light C19
dormers. Moulded plinth and moulded string, large external double stack with
skirt and capping to coped gable, right, flanked by single lights at ground and
first floors. Centre front has gabled porch with 4-centre door opening beneath
a C19 shield. Back has two gables of unequal size, the smaller with a 2-light
over 4-light mullioned casement, latter with stopped hood. C20 door to right.
The wing to left is in 2 storeys; at ground floor three 2-light C19 casements to
a continuous stopped hood mould raised at centre which was formerly a doorway;
first floor has two 2-light casements, all these with leading. Interior not
accessible, but may be of interest.
