Painswick Mill Cottage
Detached house. Late C18/early c19. Limestone, ashlar facade, coursed and
squared or rubble other fronts; stone slate roof. Two storeys and attic, 3
windows; 12-pane sashes with slightly over-square panes, central door in C20
gabled porch. Back has a 2-light gabled dormer over a 2-light central casement,
also a single storey lean-to with stone slate roof. Small stack to right gable,
larger external stack to gable left. This cottage is paired with Spring Cottage
(qv) of which it is a mirror image, and was probably to house staff associated
with the mill, opposite.
