Burdock, builders' yard
Assembly room, now store to builders' yard. Early c19. Rendered on squared
limestone block, hipped concrete tile roof. Set well back from street a two
storey broad front with deep first floor string course and faceted parapet
cornice; 3-windowed, 12-pane sashes flanking wide elliptical opening at ground
floor, now fitted with door and window in wood panel, and flanking tripartite
4:12:4 pane sash under elliptical head with plain tympanium at first floor. All
windows with plat-band architraves. the interior considerably modified, retains
iron balcony rail with some spear-head decoration at head of a flight of wooden
stairs. The Assembly Room was built behind the former Bell Inn in Friday
Street, and access later made from New Street.
