GV II*

Pigeon house. Mid C18. Limestone ashlar, timber top storey and lead cupola. A
splendid classical structure with square rusticated base broached to octagonal
upper level carrying hexagonal louvred crown and cupola. Ground level has deep
recessed alcove with segmental head to each cardinal face with deep voussoirs
below a plain string; above are 8 lofty arched openings with rusticated quoins
and voussoirs. Louvred ventilators above with paired openings and arches.
Ground level has very low pitched cross vault. Windows generally at first floor
are blocked. The ground floor recess towards the house seems to have had a
portico or canopy cut in at some time, also has narrow door giving access to a
stair. Interior not accessible.
