of The Stables
Pair of garden gates. Circa 1750, possibly by Thomas Robins. Painted woodto
wood posts. In chinoiserie style to plain square posts; gates have typical
diagonal bars in paired panels. These are part of a group of garden elements in
an important surviving rococo ensemble; it is not known whether they are as
originally sited, but they give access from the House (qv) to the rococo garden.
