Narrow frontage house in row, with shop. C17 or earlier. Large squared dressed
limestone block to saddle-backed coped gable, Welsh slate roof, replacing stone
slate. Deep plan with through passage to the right; set forward from Cardynham
(qv) to left and set back from Upper Cottage (qv) to right. Two storeys and
attic, one bay; at ground floor a 3-light C20 casement set well below a
continuous moulded string which returns left over a small light. At first floor
a 3-light recessed chamfer stone mullioned casement to slopped hood, with small
light, to left return; in gable a 2-light similar casement. Small stack with
capping to apex of gable. Far right is an arched opening with plain surround to

good plank and fillet C17 door. Interior has the shop floor at lower level than
pavement and throughway; shop has wide-spaced timber-frame partition, now glazed
