Large detached house. c.1820 but with C16/C17 rear wing and C19 and C20
alterations and additions. Limestone ashlar over plinth and with plain
first floor string, stone slate or plain tile roofs behind parapet. The
main section is built over the old cellar and stairs, 3 storeys, 4-windowed
sashes with glazing bars, full height bow window with tripartite sashes
on garden front, C19 projecting pediment porch on east front. Interior
largely C19 alteration. Rear wing dated 1659 on a chimney, but probably
earlier. Coursed rubble, modern tile roof, 2 storeys, stone mullion windows
below, wooden casements above, C19 and modern replacements, two tall stone
stacks with moulded caps, rebuilt. Interior includes heavy chamfered beams,
a fireplace, and two doors of the period.
