Description

SP 02 NW WINCHCOMBE CORNDEAN LANE

3/27 Coates Mill House

-
- II

House. Mostly early Cl9 but possibly incorporating some C18 stonework.
Limestone ashlar to c.¾ of ground floor, remainder painted brickwork, plain
tile roof to coped gables with stacks. Two storeys and attic, 3-windowed,
casement gabled dormers over 3 sashes with glazing bars, under segmental
heads at first floor, hexagonal bay with hipped slate roof, left, and 16-
pane sash with bars, right; centrally 3+3 vertical panelled C19 door, part
glazed, under hipped slate porch with glazed cheeks. This may be a remnant
of the Grist Mill and Bakery kept by John Sisam: in the garden is a stone
with inscription 'S Smith 1749', presumed to have been taken from the build-
ing.
