GV II

Large house in row but set back from adjoining properties. Early C19.
Limestone ashlar with plinth, plain string at first floor, moulded
cornice, and parapet; welsh slate roof to coped gables swept to plain
ashlar stacks. A large, parallel range property, with an extension at
slightly lower level in the plane of the facade, left, and fronted by a
courtyard. Two storeys and attics, 3-windowed, original sashes with bars,
in reveals and stone cills, 12-pane at first floor and 16-pane at ground
floor. Centrally a good 6-panel fielded door under deep transome light
with projecting square Greek doric portico with flat entablature, raised
2 steps. To left, contemporary extension with plain coping, a small 16-
pane sash with glazing bars over side elliptical opening carriage through
way, with pair of planks doors. To right a boundary wall c. 3.5 m high
from front of premises to back of No 50 (q.v.) adjoining.
