Description

SP 02 28 WINCHCOMBE HAILES STREET
(east side)
4/124
Nos 55 and 57
-
- II

Pair of houses at end of short row. C16 body but mainly C19 front.
Coursed limestone rubble, concrete stone slate roof, but some heavy
timber framing remains and is visible in the upper part of gable to
street at right end. This is evidently a framed building, with steep
pitched roof and with cross wing, right to which a front has been
added at the later date. Each dwelling one-windowed; No 55 has in
gable a small canted bay which rests on the outshot roof below,
and a sash with glazing bars in a moulded architrave, and to right
plank and batten door in chamfered surround. No 57 has small 2-light
C19 casement dormer over sash with glazing bars and right, a C20 'Stable'
door. No 57 is included as having been an integral part of an original
construction.
