Coaching inn,now inn.C16,C17 and C19.Cut squared limestone,stone slate roof with coped gable,left,and to street,large stack at left gable.A long,deep property with three storey gable to street,and lower section,right eaves to street,also deep projection at back,formerly the malt house or brewery of the C19.Three storeys and cellar.Gable has chamfered mullion casements,with stopped drips,three-light,over four-light with king mullion,over three-light;in right hand section,separately built,two small gabled dormers over canted bay with swept-down roof,with sashes and an offset plinth.Between two parts a four-centred stone arch under stopped drip to doorway.Brewhouse at back includes two large 20-pane sashes and door at first floor approached by flight of external stone steps.Interior has large Tudor-arched stone lintel fire at left,front,and at ceiling level to right of this some quarter circle stone segments,possibly emanating from destroyed Abbey buildings:Heavy chamfered beams and some timber-framed walls and partitions.
