SO 83 SE CHACELEY CHACELEY VILLAGE

2/16 Woodbine Cottage

GV II

Probably formerly two semi-detached cottages, now in one
occupation. C17 and C20. Square-panelled timber-framing with
struts with painted brick infill between framing, stone plinth.
Red tile roof, brick stacks. Rectangular plan with single bay C20
extension to right gable-end. One storey and attic lit by gabled
C20 dormer with weather-boarded surround, 4-light C20 flat-roofed
roof dormer right. Three-bay main body lit by 2 and 4-light C20
wood casements. Cl9 plank door towards left-hand end with single
pitched-plank hood over. C20 plank door towards right end.
Projecting left gable-end stack and axial stack.
Interior: open fire with wood bressumer. Two moulded plasterwork
panels in central first floor room, smaller panel depicts beast
with horse-like head and lion-like hind-quarters, the larger (over
a fireplace) comprises a latticework pattern framing mouldings of a
hawk (centre), fleur-de-lys (right) and hawk hovering-over hound
(left), all possibly of heraldic origin. Moulding of deer with
arrow through its neck (left) and 2 hounds (centre and right)
within lattice at bottom.
