south of Highnam Court
GV II
Terrace wall and gate. Mid C19 for T. Gambier-Parry. English
garden wall bond brickwork, ashlar dressings, balustrade probably
terracotta, cast-iron urns. Wall with central gates and steps,
projecting quadrants each end. Quadrants brick wall with plain
stone caps, outer end pier with cast-iron urn, inner pier with
statue. Straight wall in 3 sections, outer 'balustrade' of semi-
circular sections in 3 courses, centre section brick, plain stone
coping: small urn on centre of each side, wide terracotta urn on
piers either side gate. Iron gates with fixed side panels, dog
bars, spear heads to main bars. In front 2 stone steps with
nosings down to field, ha ha either side. Forms part of axial
view from house.
