II
Former inn, now public house and restaurant. Late C17, C18, C19,
minor C20 alterations. Right gable random rubble stone, with
brick above from centre of first-floor windows; Flemish-bond
brickwork front to left, English bond left bay beyond: tiled roof.
'L' plan; 2-window, 1 1/2-storey wing on left, 2-bay, 2 1/2-storey wing
on right, with lean-to to part of front. Front to road; late C20
external brick chimney with offsets left return: 3-light casement,
boarded shutters, cambered brick arch: vertical joint in
brickwork, similar window to right. To right boarded door up 3
stone steps, under open lean-to porch on heavy timber posts, off
low stone walls each side. To right stone gable, 3-light casement,
leaded lights, timber lintel, left of centre; 2-light window in
lean-to, small panes, concrete lintel. Above, half-hip left end,
lean-to dormer with 2-light casement; triangular window at foot of
gable on left, wide 3-light casement, leaded lights, cambered brick
head, in centre, further triangular window at top of lean-to, on
right. Above infilled oval in gable: ridge chimney on centre
right wing. Rear angle infilled and extended late C20, not of
special interest. Exterior may hide earlier work.
