II
Small house. C15, altered late C16, C17, C19, C20. Brick nogged
timber-framing; Flemish-bond brickwork, asbestos-slate roof. Four
bays, 1 1/2 storeys, one room deep. Framing on left 2 panels high:
end brick gable laps corner post, long brace to sill. To right 2-
light casement; long, half-glazed porch, door on left, covering
front door. Cambered timber head for blocked door to right, 2-
light casement over. To right framing 3 panels high, slighter
timbers. Half-glazed door; 2-light casement in rectangular oriel.
Brick lean-to against right gable, boarded door. Above 3 lean-to
dormers, left pair 2-light casements, right 3-light. Brick chimney
on ridge, right gable: formerly lateral chimney on rear on left
half.
Interior: full cruck truss to left of door from porch, similar for
half-hip to right. Heavily-moulded longitudinal and wall beams for
inserted floor, left 2 bays (late C16); heavy chamfer to cross
beam both floors right section. Two-bay cruck cottage, later
floored; extended 2 narrower bays to right C17.
