4/3 Northway Mill



Former corn mill. Mid C19. Brick with slate roof. Rectangular
plan with retaining walls of mill ponds still present immediately
to east of the mill building. Stable door in gable end facing
house within segmental-headed surround. Steps curve around corner
of building to right of door giving access to mill pond. Stable
type pitching door within segmental-headed surround upper left.
Two-Light casement towards apex of gable end. Four 2-light steel
casements in left gable end within segmental-headed surrounds.
Iron wheel at first floor level projects out from left-hand return
probably formerly connected via a belt drive to a traction engine
to give extra power.
Interior; flagged floor. Machinery still in situ including 3
grinding wheels, pulley and gearing. Mill ceased production in
