7/31 Hardwicke House and
attached outbuildings



Detached farmhouse. Late C16-mid C17 and late C18-early C19.
Late C16-mid C17 square-panelled timber-framed range now pebble-
dashed. C18-C19 painted red brick. Attached outbuildings red
brick. Red tile roof and brick stacks to both ranges.
Rectangular plan to C16-C17 range with C18-C19 range at right
angles on right. C16-C17 range; 2 storeys with early C20 two-
light casements some with horizontal glazing bars, some with
glazing bars. C18-C19 range; 2 storeys and attic with 1½ storey
store to right. Two-windowed entrance front with 4-pane sashes.
C19 panelled front door (upper half now glazed). Two Diocletian
windows at right gable end lighting attic. Store at right gable
end with double doors within small double width entrance. Small
diamond-shaped air vent to right of doorway. Plank door to loft in
right gable end. Open-fronted 6-bay shelter-shed to right linking
store to small 2-storey stableblock with two stable doors on the
ground floor and pitching window to first floor. Interior of C16-
C17 range; cross passage, intersecting beams with deep flat
chamfers and an open fire with bressumer beam.
