Semi-detached house. Late C18, probably extended early C19.
Incised render. Slate roof with one rendered and one brick stack.
Basically rectangular plan. Brick outbuildings attached rear
right not of special interest. Two-storey, 4-windowed entrance
front. Two left-hand bays are set back slightly. Far right-hand
bay with tripartite sash windows to the ground and first floors
both with moulded architraves. C19 three-panelled door within a
flat-roofed open-sided porch with a moulded cornice to the left.
Single 12-pane sash above with a moulded architrave. Twelve-pane
sashes to two bays set back on the left. Moulded cornice at
eaves. Venetian window in right-hand return. Garden front;1:2:1
windowed with triangular pediment over central 2 bays. Venetian
windows to first floor of the left and right-hand bays. Canted
bay to ground floor of right-hand bay. Twelve-pane sashes with
horns to first floor of the central 2 bays. Single 12-pane sash
to ground floor set within former doorway. C20 French doors to
the left of the latter. Sandstone sundial with a metal gnomon and
a segmental hood set within pediment possibly dated 176-. The
present garden front could possibly have once been the entrance
front prior to the redirection of the main road through Swindon
village during C19. Interior not inspected.
