Farmhouse. Medieval, C17, C18, C19. Squared, coursed stone;
ashlar to garden front; random rubble stone to some extensions;
stone slate roof. 'L' plan, long 4-window main block, 2 1/2 storeys,
extended to one end 2-bays, 2-storey wing at right angles left end;
all one room deep, but with various lean-tos to back, and tall,
probably stair wing projecting centre of rear. Garden front:
half-glazed door, rectangular light over, moulded stone surround,
stone pediment with slight projection over. Either side a
tripartite sash window, 16-pane centre sash, cambered head with
stone voussoirs: to left boarded door with stone lintel, under end
of lean-to roof on cast-iron columns along right return of
projecting wing. Boarded door with timber lintel in gable,
similar in gable of lean-to on left return with small light over.
First floor, main block, three 3-light casement windows, heads as
below; similar single-light window to right of centre one. Two-
light casement with timber lintel in gable left wing. Above, 2
chimneys on rear of main block: gabled dormer to left of left
window, 2-light casement, ridge chimney to left; further ridge
chimney at rear of projecting wing, all with moulded caps. Dormer
on right return of wing; parapet gable to wing, slope on right
longer than left. Left return: on right lean-to against
projecting wing, boarded door at left end, timber lintel. Set
back, gable end of main block, tall, 5-light ovolo-moulded,
mullioned window, hoodmould. Projecting lean-to on left, hipped
round onto back of main block; 12-pane horizontal window. Above,
slit in right wing, chamfered to give impression of pointed head;
top of large buttress to left, forming part of gable of lean-to.
Three-light mullioned window as below: 2-light to attics, plain
chamfer, hoodmould: parapet gable to main block, cross-gablet
apex. Interior not inspected. Said to contain remains of
medieval chapel.
