War memorial. C19, circa 1920, probably by Sir J.N. Comper for Sir
P.S. Stott. Ashlar stone, bronze plaque. Gabled blind arch in
line of garden wall. Blind archway, 4-centred head, chamfered
arris: blank shield in coped gable over, horizontal foot each
side: bulb-shaped finials to apex and base each side, latter on
pedestals with diamonds in relief on sides. Within arch, centre
framed by Jacobean-style Ionic pilasters, on plinth with moulded
top. Cornice, swept pediment with moulded edge. Rectangular
bronze plaque, eared top and bottom: raised lettering. Archway
originally framed village pump.
