to Stanton Court

Gates piers and adjoining walls. Probably C18, gates C20 by and
for Sir P.S. Stott. Ashlar: well-squared coursed stone, wrought
iron. Square gate piers, straight wall each side, curving to road
on left. To right, wall from cottage about 4m, about 1.8m high,
plain, unprojecting cap. Square pier, plinth at ground level:
semi-circular niche in face, raised moulded edge, returned as base,
plain impost block returned round inside of recess. Moulded cap,
rounded step, swept up to ball finial. Hook hinges for original
gates on front, rib behind , with quadrant block at foot. Pair of
gates with repeated decorative features in frame, central feature
above top rail. Gate pier mirrored on left: wall runs about 4m
straight, then curves round to road, ending in slightly projecting
buttress. Further approximate 5m of wall up to War Memorial
(q.v.).
