chancel, Hailes parish church
GV II
Two chest tombs. Second half C18. Ashlar stone. Two adjoining
identical monuments: flat lid, moulded edge, wide, rectangular
pilaster ends, framing sides: north side northern monument, south
side southern bluish, slatey slab in frame of stone; adjoining
sides fielded panel. Moulded top to bases. Inscriptions on bluish
slabs, partly weathered off: one to wife of William Marshall,
179-, other 176-.
