9/140 Barn, former stable and pigsties
to east of house, Oxleaze Farm
GV II
Barn, former stable, pigsties. C18, mid C19. Random rubble walls,
larger quoins, stone slate roof. Three-bay barn, porches each side
in end bay: higher, lofted wing on end, pigsties at right angles
off other end. Towards house: lean-to porch with corrugated-iron
roof over double boarded doors, timber lintel: on left small,
shuttered opening: parapet gable left end. To right building
higher, no openings, parapet gables, stone steps up to former
granary on right return. Interior: barn 3 bay, threshing floor
right end, former pitching hole in right gable, collar and tie-beam
trusses, 2 pairs purlins, plank ridge: hipped porch on side
away from house. King-post trusses with metal bolts in granary.
On left of barn low single bay extension, 4 pigsties off at right-
angles, each with doorway with stone lintel; boarded door with
timber lintel in gable. Barn oldest part, stable built against
gable; pigsties added to other end. Forms group with house and
other barn, (q.v.).
