about 20m north of Church
of St Mary
GV II
Gateway in garden wall. Probably mid C19 for J. Dent. Ashlar
stone. Side towards chapel: boarded door with studs, chamfered
arris to opening, semi-circular head, plain projecting impost
blocks and keystone. On each side Roman Doric pillars on high
bases, moulded cornice and plain frieze, projecting over pillars:
moulded cap, pyramidal finials on gadrooned bases. Forms group
with Church and Castle, (q.v.).
