3/33 Droy's Court

Farmhouse. Possibly late C16 - early C17. Random limestone
rubble, part of the upper floor rebuilt in brick; concrete tile
roof. C20 brick stack. 'L'-shaped plan. C19 extension with mock
timber framing and C20 lean-to porch on the north side of the early
range, not of special interest. Two storeys. Gable-end dovecote.
Fenestration comprises single light, 2 and 3-light casements with
horizontal glazing bars. Possible blocked doorway now with window
inserted in the blocking to the east facing elevation.
Interior: principal room with beams with chamfers with double
cavetto and quirked mouldings. The cavetto moulded parts are
carved to imitate a stylized elongated leaf emanating from the mid
part of the beam; triangular stops with ridged decoration. Large
open fireplace with bressumer c3m in length and bread oven, in the
adjoining room. The bread oven formerly projected out from the
gable end. Downstairs only inspected. The name derives from Henry
le Droy a tenant from 1299.
