2/62 Unidentified monument in the church-
yard of the Church of St Peter, c6m
south of the chancel
Chest tomb to John ------. Only surviving date 1705. Limestone
and slatestone. Slatestone inscription panel on. the north side
now badly eroded; moulded marginal panels reflecting the shape of
the lyre-shaped ends. Left-hand panel decorated with skull and
ribbon tie; cherub with downfolded wings on the right-hand panel.
Single detached piece of inscription panel, now detached from
monument on the south side; marginal panels matching those on
north, one now recumbent. Fine incised foliate scrollwork and
cherub's head at the west end. East end now lost. Thick capping
with moulded margin.
